Barry Fixler is the 2009 Rockland County Veteran of the Year. The award was given on the steps of the Rockland County Courthouse on November 8, 2009. Fixler dedicated the award to his father who inspired him to become a Marine. Fixler’s father served with the United States Army in the Pacific during World War II, and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor.

    I remember your friend, Bogard, at Khe Sanh. We had a conversation when he first got to Hill 861A. I think he was killed a day later or maybe that same day.
